A western Pennsylvania man has been convicted of first-degree murder in the death of a woman whose burned body was found in a Pittsburgh alley last summer.

Nathan Williams, 30, also was convicted of abuse of a corpse but acquitted of rape and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse in the death of 57-year-old Elaina Davis.

Authorities said her naked and burned body was found Aug. 28 in the city’s Hill District.

Williams faces a mandatory term of life in prison without possibility of parole when he is sentenced Sept. 24.

Police and prosecutors said DNA evidence led them to the defendant. Defense attorney Lisa Middleman called the prosecution’s case circumstantial.
