Voter registration deadline for absentee ballots in Ohio nears

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio
Voters wanting to get absentee ballots by mail on a timely basis for the November election have until July 31 to make sure their voter registration is up to date.
The Springfield News-Sun reports today that all 88 counties will submit voter rolls to the state by that date.
A spokeswoman for Ohio’s secretary of state says absentee ballot applications will be mailed to all of Ohio’s registered voters starting after Labor Day, giving them the option to vote by mail.
Some election officials believe the number of absentee ballots will increase this year.
The executive director for the Ohio Association of Election Officials believes that the expected increase will mean that the workload for election boards will shift from election day to the weeks leading up to it.
