Trumbull gets biggest fee from Chesapeake

Chesapeake Energy turned over 7,000 oil and gas leases to the Trumbull County Recorder’s Office on June 26 to be recorded — producing the largest single recorder’s fee in the county’s history — $34,159.

Recorder Diana Marchese said the leases mostly transfer oil and gas leases from Everflow Eastern of Canfield to Chesapeake Energy.

The Recorder’s Office assigned two to three people to work on the transfers, and the work was completed on Friday.

A call to Everflow Eastern late Friday was not returned.

Marchese said it would appear that the lease transfers would indicate that Everflow Eastern is transferring leases to Chesapeake for land Everflow Eastern used for the older-style vertical drilling.
