Charles T. Taylor has been named dean of the College of Pharmacy at Northeast Ohio Medical University, effective this fall.
As dean, Taylor will report to the president of the university and serve as a member of the Council of Deans, which oversees the academic programs and operations of the university.
“It’s my pleasure to announce Dr. Taylor’s appointment as dean of the College of Pharmacy and welcome him to Northeast Ohio Medical University,” said Jay A. Taylor will serve as only the second dean in the College of Pharmacy at NEOMED, after the departure of inaugural dean David D. Allen.
“I am deeply honored to have been selected as the next dean of the College of Pharmacy,” Taylor said. “This is an extraordinary opportunity for me to join an organization dedicated to the advancement of pharmacy education, biomedical research and collaborative care as part of the vision of being the premier community-based, interprofessional health sciences University in the United States. I welcome the opportunity to serve in this capacity.”
With extensive academic administrative experience developing and implementing strategic plans, educational initiatives and research programs that have increased research funding and advanced scholarly work, Taylor’s experience includes building and growing clinical and community partnerships as well as initiating programs to improve operational effectiveness and financial sustainability.
He also has worked as a pharmacist, providing medication management services for patients with chronic diseases in primary-care clinics.
In his current role, Taylor serves as the senior associate dean for professional education and professor of pharmaceutical care and health systems in the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy.
Before this position, he was chairman of the Division of Pharmacy Practice and associate dean of clinical affairs at St. Louis College of Pharmacy.
