Jazz music filled the air as patrons enjoyed the serenity of nature while they watched the movie,”The Band Wagon” at Yellow Creek Movie Theater July 6.

“It’s a good service giving back to the community. It’s been growing every year and it’s a new project that is all privately funded by sponsorship and businesses. All ages come out — the base is retirees, but they bring their children, grandchildren and families, it just depends on the movie,” said Yellow Creek Theater founder Ron Eiselstein.

The Yellow Creek Theater is free to the public and is a project of Town One Streetscapes, which is a non-profit organization. The theater plays only classical movies and includes 10 movies per season, according to Eiselstein. Participants brought their lawn chairs, family and friends as they sat outside and enjoyed the weather.

“Summer is almost over and it’s a beautiful place to come watch a movie,” said Diane Boyarko.

There was also a concession stand that provided all the traditional movie treats from gummy candy to popcorn. Some participants said they were just excited for the opportunity to watch classical movies in a new setting with their family.

“We’re just curious and we like classic movies. We like the fact that it’s free and we enjoy the music,” said Sophia Yargo.

As the sun began to set, more chairs filled with eager people who just wanted to enjoy a good movie under the stars.

“I rarely watch the movies. I watch the people and money can’t buy the excitement, sadness and sorrow that people feel when they watch these movies,” said Eiselstein.
