OSHP seizes pills, liquid codeine during traffic stop

FINDLAY — A Kentucky man is facing felony drug charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized 840 Loratab tablets and 780 Oxycontin tablets, in addition to 2,379 milliliters of liquid codeine worth an estimated $35,000 during a traffic stop in Hancock County.

Troopers stopped a rented 2012 Chevrolet Impala, with Ohio registration, southbound on Interstate 75, near milepost 155, for a marked lanes violation at 1:57 p.m. on July 11. Upon contact with the vehicle, troopers detected the odor of marijuana. A probable-cause search revealed several bags of illegal prescription pills and liquid codeine in a suitcase in the truck.

The driver Denzel Hennegham, 25, of Frankfort, Ky., was placed in the Hancock County Jail and charged with two-counts of possession of drugs, both third-degree felonies, and one-count of possession of drugs, a second-degree felony.
