Hilltop Elementary third, fourth-graders earn awards

Hilltop Elementary School held its annual Third and Fourth Grade Awards Assembly on June 5, during which students received certificates for perfect attendance with the exception one or two days; perfect attendance; earning all As and Bs on report cards throughout the year and earning strait A’s throughout the year.
Cathy Mowry, principal of Hilltop, served as master of ceremonies.
“We are here today to celebrate your hard work. If you win awards now, you will win them throughout your school career,” Mowry told the students.
Mowry first recognized Cardinal Heroes and then the fourth-grade leaders.
“Hilltop is truly a school of champions, leaders and heroes,” Mowry said.
She then asked the students to give their teachers a round of applause.
“We have a school community with great people here at Hilltop,” Mowry said.
Mowry moved next to the perfect attendance awards, which she told the students was her favorite award.
The third-grade class had 10 students with perfect attendance and the fourth-grade class had 13 students achieve this milestone.
The students learned the recipients of the Handwriting Awards from each class. At least two students from each class received the award, with several teachers presenting more students with the award, claiming it was not easy to only choose two worthy students.
All third- and fourth-grade students who received A’s and B’s on their report cards, and strait A’s throughout the year were recognized for outstanding academic achievement.
“This is an outstanding accomplishment. I am proud and honored to be your principal,” Mowry told the students.
Each student who earned an award was called to the front of the auditorium and presented with a certificate of recognition by their teacher.
The fourth-grade Spelling Bee participants and place winners were also recognized, along with the fourth-grade Math Bee finalists and place winners.
Linda Magyar, Hilltop Elementary gym teacher, recognized the top grade fundraisers for the Jump Rope For Heart program.
Magyar also awarded two third-grade students with a new award, the Best Physical Education Award and honored a fourth-grade student with the greatest Physical Education Spirit Award.
