YOUNGSTOWN
The Oakland Center for the Arts will present “King Stag,” its first teen summer-stock production, for five performances over two weekends.
Show dates are 7 p.m. Friday, Saturday and July 21; and 2 p.m. Sunday and July 22.
Directed and adapted by Cleric Costes from the classic 18th-century Italian fairy tale by Carlo Gozzi, “King Stag” tells the story of King Deramo, who is searching for his true bride. It features a compelling cast of characters, including the would-be princesses, a double-crossing prime minister, a magician, a talking parrot, a giant bear and the magical deer from which the play draws its title.
Enjoyable for all ages, “King Stag” is awash in enchantment and confusion, mirth, betrayal and, of course, love.
“I’m so excited to be launching this new teen summer-stock series with such a wonderful play and such talented young actors,” said Costes. “They have succeeded beautifully in bringing these crazy, funny and heartfelt characters to life.”
Tickets are $10 ($7 for children). Call the box office at 330-746-0404 to make reservations. For information, go to www.oaklandcenter.com.
