No injuries in empty-train collision in Akron
AKRON, Ohio (AP) — Police say no one was hurt when two empty trains collided in downtown Akron in the middle of the night.
Officers say one CSX train moving at about 20 mph struck another that was stopped around 1:30 a.m. today.
WEWS-TV in Cleveland says the collision pushed several cars off the rails, into a nearby parking lot just north of the University of Akron campus.
The collision came a day after a train partly derailed and exploded in a more severe crash in Columbus.
The causes of the derailments have not been determined.
