The Help Hotline Crisis Center’s 2012 Resource Directory is available for purchase for $15 per book plus tax, unless the purchaser is tax exempt, and $5.50 for shipping if it is ordered through the mail.
Directories may be purchased in person Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Fridays from 9 am. to noon at the Payeeship Program lobby, 261 E. Wood St., Youngstown.
The Resource Directory is also available by mail using the order form on the web site at www.helphotline.org under Resource Center or by contacting the Help Hotline administrative office at 330-747-5111.
The directory lists social service agencies in Mahoning and Columbiana counties with narrative descriptions of the primary social service programs and eligibility requirements for each program. It also contains a Keyword Index to help connect the user to programs appropriate to their need.
Heat relief program
WARREN
The Warren Family Mission is offering a Hot Weather Program to help homeless people stay safe during the high temperatures and heat index warnings. The program will provide an air conditioned place to stay and three hot meals at 1228 West Market St. For information, call 330-394-5437.
Kent State celebrates new school of podiatry

The Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine (OCPM), 6000 Rockside Woods Blvd., Independence, became the Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine, effective July 1. Established in 1916, the college is one of the largest podiatric medical education institutions in the country and the only accredited podiatry school in Ohio. A ribbon-tying event and celebration of the partnership is at the college on Aug. 8.
The Kent State Board of Trustees established the new Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine during its March 14 meeting. The Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine’s Board of Trustees unanimously agreed to sign off on the acquisition deal from Kent State University during its meeting in March.
Discount prescriptions

Ohio’s Best Rx, a free, state-endorsed prescription drug discount program has expanded and is now available to all Ohio residents regardless of age or income. It has been available to seniors and other qualifying low-income families and individuals since 2004.
There is no waiting period to receive the card and no membership fee. Ohioans age 60-plus, as well as adults age 18-59 with disabilities, have access to Ohio’s Best Rx as a benefit with their Golden Buckeye Card. Others can sign up instantly online, by phone or via text message.
Ohio’s Best Rx is administered by Envision Pharmaceutical Services through a public-private partnership with the Ohio Department of Aging. Envision secures discounts on prescription drugs and passes the savings on to customers.

CPR & AED training

St. Luke’s School, 5225 South Ave., Youngstown, is offering the American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric CPR & AED training on July 28 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The class is open to everyone and meets the standards for workplace training, school teachers, and church emergency response teams.
