4 escape injury in Austintown crash

Staff report

Austintown

Four people escaped a two-car crash without major injury.

The accident occurred just after noon Tuesday when two cars collided on state Route 46, just south of Interstate 80 in the township.

Township fire crews and troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol Canfield Post responded to the scene, where one car had flipped onto its roof, fire officials said.

Assistant Fire Chief Andy Frost III said fire crews had to extract two people from the car that flipped over.

“We had to crawl through and pull them out the back door to get them out of the car,” he said.

Both of those people suffered minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital. The other car sustained minimal damage, and its driver and passenger were uninjured.

The patrol was unable to provide an accident report with additional information before press time.
