New music in stores this week includes:
v Dirty Projectors, “Swing Lo Magellan”: Frontman David Longstreth channels his talent into well-proportioned avant-rock chestnuts.
v The English Beat, “The Complete Beat”: This compilation documents the Beat’s career transformation. They started off a ska band with pop instincts, and ended up a pop band with reggae cred.
v Twin Shadow, “Confess”: George Lewis Jr.’s much-anticipated follow-up to 2010 debut, “Forget,” pushes his candor further.
v Woody Guthrie, “Woody at 100 — Woody Guthrie Centennial Collection”: Beneath the pops and crackles, you can hear words and music that might have been written this morning.
v Mission of Burma, “Unsound”: Yet another great album in the band’s post-hiatus phase.
“white collar” (9 p.m., usa): Season 4 of “White Collar” figures to take the show in a different direction now that Neal (Matt Bomer) and Mozzie (Willie Garson) have fled to a tropical island with all that money.

Giant drum sticks set world record
WARREN
A pair of 900-pound drum sticks created to honor rock star Dave Grohl, who was born in Warren, have set a world record for their size. The Guinness Book of World Records has bestowed the honor on the giant sticks, which are each more than 20-feet long, according to Hollywoodreporter.com.
The sticks, unveiled Saturday night, are on display at the Warren Community Amphitheater. They will be moved to Dave Grohl Alley, which was named for the musician, in September.
Grohl tweeted a message of thanks over the weekend that read, “To the wonderful city of Warren, from the bottom of my heart I’d like to thank you all so much... For the childhood memories. For my family. For my very own alley. For the world’s largest drumsticks! And for all of your support... But most of all for being such a great community. One that makes me proud to say... I am from Warren, Ohio!”
