An old farmhouse in Northeast Ohio is opening for its first public tours in an attempt to help preserve it.

Tours start this weekend for the Case-Barlow farmhouse in Hudson about 30 miles south of Cleveland. Visitors will be able to take free self-guided tours during selected hours on the second Sunday of each month.

Local volunteers rushed to preserve the 1826 home about 16 years ago. They now hope a more public profile will attract donations that will help renovate the rest of the property. The grounds include an original outhouse and an 1890 dairy barn still fitted with milking equipment.

The house has been rented out over the last few years for a variety of activities, including weddings and graduation parties.
