Contracts awarded for construction of new Jackson-Milton library


NORTH JACKSON — The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County Board of Trustees’ Building and Sites Committee has selected contractors to build a new Jackson-Milton library branch.

The committee, empowered by the full board, awarded the contracts today.

DSV Builders Inc. of Niles was selected as the general contractor with a $1,102,000 proposal.

The plumbing contract, for $64,500, went to Ellyson Plumbing and Heating of Salem. D&G Mechanical Inc. of West Middlesex, Pa., will handle the mechanical contract for $84,190, and Zenith Systems Inc. of Bedford Heights will do the electrical work for $335,400.

The new 6,650-square-foot branch will be built on Mahoning Avenue near the Jackson-Milton High School/Middle School complex.

The library’s ground-breaking event is planned for 4:30 p.m. July 30 with construction expected to be done in March 2013.
