Applications are being taken for Cinderella Ball debutantes

The Junior Civic League will sponsor its 57th annual Cinderella Ball on Nov. 23 at Mr. Anthony’s, 7440 South Ave. The theme this year is “Imagine Me.”

Debutante applications are available, and the submission deadline is July 21. Qualifications follow:

Applicant must be entering her senior year of high school in the fall.

She must have a grade point average of 2.0, verified by a report card or signature of a principal or guidance counselor.

Applicant and her escort must be single and not be parents.

The applicant must have three adult references.

The application must be submitted with a $75 fee.

Applications may be obtained from any Junior Civic League member or the JCL website www.juniorcivicleague.org.

Proceeds from the ball go to the JCL Scholarship and Education Program, which began in 1961. More than 350 scholarships have been awarded to outstanding minority students from our area high schools, totaling more than $475,000.

For 56 years, the Cinderella Ball has been the sole fundraising event for scholarship funds.
