Amish man drowns
BAZETTA
Police using boats recovered the body of a 21-year-old Amish man in Mosquito Lake on Saturday after he jumped in the water from a boat to cool off. Men who were fishing from a boat saw the man enter the water, and he did not surface, said Capt. Ed Hukary of the Warren Fire Department. They called 911.
Warren and several other departments assisted Mecca Fire Department in recovering the body. Mecca had no information on the victim Saturday night. Trumbull County 911 dispatch center said the call came in at 5:47 p.m. The body was recovered at 8:45 p.m., Hukary said.
Capt. Harold Firster of the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office, said the man’s body was found on the east side of the lake.
Three boats searched for the man, including the dive team from the sheriff’s office and personnel from Weathersfield Police Department, which found the body.
Struthers car break-ins
STRUTHERS
Police discovered 12 cars were burglarized in the Hamilton Lake and Runge Boulevard area of the city sometime Friday night. The burglars entered unlocked cars and took items, some of which police found scattered around.
Water emergency
CAMPBELL
Residents are asked to conserve water until a water emergency in the city is over sometime today, said city Administrator Jack Dill.
The problem began at 4:30 p.m. Friday when a raw-water line running through Struthers from Aqua Ohio’s Hamilton Lake broke under Norfolk & Southern Railroad tracks in Struthers. The railroad would not allow Aqua Ohio to repair the break, and it could take weeks or months for the company to get a permit to do so, Dill said.
