Woman suspected in four armed robberies
Staff report
LIBERTY
Township police said a woman is the prime suspect in at least four armed robberies in the last three months. Two of those occurred this week.
Police in Hubbard and the township are looking for the woman, who has matched the descriptions in the robberies, said Liberty Police Chief Robert J. Tisone.
On Tuesday evening, a woman robbed the Shoe Show Store in Liberty Plaza on Belmont Avenue. Police said a short, heavyset black female walked into the store wearing a black shirt, pants and sunglasses. She pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded the cash in the register. She took an undetermined amount of cash and fled in a black SUV, according to police reports.
Tuesday’s robbery suspect matches the same description from a Monday robbery at the Subway restaurant on West Liberty Street in Hubbard.
Police in Hubbard said a short, black female, wearing all black, walked into the store and pointed a gun at an employee. The employee said she took $500 and drove off in a dark- colored SUV.
The description also matches a suspect involved in two Dollar General robberies that occurred in Hubbard on April 27 and in Liberty on June 17, said Hubbard Detective Sgt. David C. Oaks.
Hubbard city police and Liberty police are working together in the investigation.
