First Presbyterian Church, 201 Wick Ave., will host the annual Wick Neighbor Churches community worship service at 10 a.m. Sunday in conjunction with Youngstown State University’s Festival of the Arts weekend.

Bishop George V. Murry of the Diocese of Youngstown will deliver the sermon.

Members of Butler Memorial Church, Oak Baptist Church, St. Columba Cathedral, St. John’s Episcopal Church and the community will assist Heather Cooper and the Rev. Nick Mager in leading worship.

Sing-along

A Saturday night sing-along is scheduled for July 14 at New Life Christian Fellowship, 2088 Tibbetts Wick Road.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. for a social time and snacks.

“The Fellowship,” a men’s singing group from Corner House Christian Church, will present a mini concert at 6:30 with the sing-along at 7.

The event is free.

The Singing Weavers will be in concert at 6 p.m. Sunday at Calvary Bible Church (www.mycalvary-biblechurch.org), 2878 Warren Meadville Road.

The Weavers have been traveling for more than 40 years, and there are three generations of family members with multirecordings.

A nursery will be provided.

A free-will offering will be taken.

Society of St. John Chrysostom, Youngstown-Warren Chapter, will present “Who Are Coptic Orthodox Christians and What is the Coptic Orthodox Church?” during a program at 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary and St. John the Beloved Convent, 8640 Squires Lane.

Speaker will be Dr. Joseph S. Ragheb, who teaches Egyptian culture and Coptic Orthodox history at the University of Pittsburgh.

The society is an ecumenical organization of Catholic and Orthodox clergy and laity.

An ACTION clergy breakfast is planned from 9:30 to 11 a.m. July 19 at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 7345 Westview Drive, with the Rev. Phillip E. Rogers, host pastor.

Members of the Alliance for Congregational Transformation Influencing our Neighborhoods will discuss “Abandoned Homes Adoption,” an education seminar, Aug. 5-11 at the University of Chicago and new leadership seminar Aug. 25.

Keynote speaker will be Elder Paul Ringold.

North Lima Mennonite Church, 90 Mennonite Drive, will host Squire Parsons in concert at 7 p.m. Friday.

Parsons was inducted into the Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame. He also has been part of the Gaither Homecoming video series.

A free-will offering will be taken.

Parish picnic

Holy Apostles Parish picnic is planned July 15 at Strossmayer Picnic Grounds, 4202 Smith-Stewart Road. The parish is the merger of Our Lady of Hungary, Sts. Peter and Paul Croatian and St. Stephen of Hungary.

Happy Hearts Junior Tamburitzans and Hungarian entertainment is scheduled from noon to 2 p.m. and music by Vatra from 2 to 6.

Admittance fee is $5. There will be food, refreshments, games and raffles.

Sermon series

St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 159 Todd Ave., will begin an eight-week intergenerational summer sermon series called “Children of the Bible” at 10 a.m. Sunday.

Ministries chapter

Dr. William Ragone will be the guest speaker when Youngstown Chapter of Igniting New Life Ministries, an interdenominational ministry, meets July 16 in the Georgeanna Parker Activity Center in Boardman Park, 325 Boardman-Poland Road, Route 224.

He will share testimony on his traumatic birth, child abuse, organized crime and near-death experience.

Fellowship will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the ministry at 7.

The Diocesan Infant Jesus of Prague Guild will meet July 18 at St. Patrick Church, 367 N. Main St. The rosary will be at 9:30 a.m. and Mass at 10. Youth choir

warren

The Warren City-Wide Youth Choir will host its second annual summer concert at 6 p.m. July 29 at Warren Community Amphitheater.

The concert will benefit the CURRENT Scholarship, which awarded its first scholarship of $1,000 to Patrick Flanagan, Jr., a graduating senior from Warren G. Harding High School.

The group was organized in 2011 by the CURRENT Young Adult Fellowship and has had over 70 participants since first performing at the African American Achiever’s festival in 2011. The choir is open to all youths, teens and young adults of any church affiliation; age and range is from 5 to 35.

The choir will rehearse at noon July 14 and 21 and 6:30 p.m. July 16 and 23, all at Agape Assembly Church, 426 Nevada Ave. S.W.
