BAZETTA

Police using boats recovered the body of a 21-year-old Amish man in Mosquito Lake Saturday after he jumped in the water from a boat to cool off. Men who were fishing from a boat saw the man enter the water and he did not surface, said Capt. Ed Hukary of the Warren Fire Department. They called 9-1-1.

Warren and several other departments assisted Mecca Fire Department in recovering the body. Mecca had no information on the victim Saturday night. Trumbull County 9-1-1 dispatch center said the call came in at 5:47 p.m. The body was recovered at 8:45 p.m., Hukary said.

Capt. Harold Firster of the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office, said the man’s body was found on the east side of the lake just south of the causeway.

Three boats searched for the man, including the dive team from the sheriff’s office and personnel from Weathersfield Police Department, which found the body.
