The adult Getting Crafty class will make refrigerator magnets from mousetraps at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Salem Public Library’s Quaker Room, 821 E. State St.

Open house, campfire set at Moss Home

MINERAL RIDGE

Moss Ancestral Home, 1499 Burnett St., is having an open house from 6 to 8 p.m. July 14 followed by a campfire at 8 p.m. Take a lawn chair.

This event is hosted by Mary Lou and John Godleski, the Moss Family and the Mineral Ridge Historical Society.

Strawberry social set at Warren church

WARREN

Central Christian Church, 2051 E. Market St., will have its 65th annual Strawberry Social from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday.

The tradition began even before the building was completed back in 1950. The social will be indoors, and a chair lift is there for those who can’t do the stairs.

The a la carte menu includes hot dogs, sloppy joes, homemade potato salad, baked beans, old fashioned strawberry shortcake, homemade pies, ice cream and beverages.

Takeouts will be available. For information call the church at 330-372-1676.

Civil War expert to speak to society

SALEM

Tuesday’s meeting of the Salem Historical Society will include a topic tied to the 150th anniversary of the Civil War.

Speaking will be East Liverpool historian, attorney and Civil War expert Timothy R. Brookes. His topic is “Columbiana County in the Ohio National Guard During the Civil War.”

Brookes has been president of the East Liverpool Historical Society since 1987.

The meeting is open to the public after a brief business meeting at 7 p.m. and will take place in the society’s meeting room along East Alley, off E. Pershing St.
