Senior artists show off paintings

The second annual senior citizen art show was held at the Davis Family YMCA on June 24. More than 70 artists from nine area assisted living and specialty care center painting clubs participated in the event. Guests of honor were the 90 plus club nonagenarians, who learned to paint in their 90s.
Guests enjoyed refreshments and perused the exhibit, while Tamra Lucas and Chris Hughes entertained with songs. Denise DeBartolo York, Theresa Hickson, Rebecca Bavuso, Alice Bort and Elizabeth Gray donated funds so prizes.
Donna Galey, of The Manor in Austintown, won Best of Show for her painting titled Birds & Berries.
Other award winners were Donna Adams, Mary Meese, Theresa Hickson, Jean Boesch, Janet Freisen, Carole Stasiak, Harry Wasson, and Lawyer Williams all from Ashley Circle.
Joe Hall, Leroy Wireman, Josephine Acierno, Marsha Burr, Susan Huffman, and John Keller from Autumn Hills were award-winners as well. Louise Stombock, Eileen Sullivan, Linnea Berg, Lillian Coe, Shelly Gabler, Frank Lombard, and Jean Thomas of Beeghly Oaks were honored, as were Donna Brodigan, Marianne Gifford, and Barb Mikesell from Boardman Briarfield.
Sue Hepp, Anne Smolko, Helen Wasko, Carmela Bucci, Mary Delia, and Laura Price of Inn at Christine Valley won awards. Lois Dieter, Mary Anne Kresovski, Peter Balaban, Stella Chojnacki, Jane Mason, Anne Pawlyschyn, and Maxine Saunders from The Manor were honored, as well as Rose DeChristopher, Mary Anne Ulrich, and Janis Nochta from The Manor at Autumn Hills.
Other winners included Ruth Heslep, Rose Stramella, and Connie Ryan from The Ridge; and Mary Bagin, Barb Melanson, Alice Kendrick, Irma Dombrowski, Eleanor Dupay, and Marjorie Harkabus of Victoria House.
