The needs of less fortunate children in Africa were at the top priority during New Life’s Vacation Bible School June 25-29.

“We wrote letters to kids in Mali in African and raised an offering for them. I think it’s important to teach them to give back when they are young,” said Children’s Pastor Krysta Walter.

Monetary donations were collected in an effort to aid children in Mali who have been affected by malaria. Parents were enthusiastic about allowing their kids an opportunity to participate.

“Parents thanked me and wanted to have the kids here every day because they thought it was such a great program,” Walter said.

There was little hesitation when it came to showing generosity to the less fortunate. Sandra Crooks said her daughter, Alexa, has a caring heart.

“She always loves being able to help,” Crooks said.

In the midst of raising money for children in Africa, as well as showing their support through writing letters, participants also made time for games and learning. Students learned the scientific method as they experimented with everyday objects like hula hoops and plastic bottles. There was also singing and dancing.

“The kids really seemed excited about things this year. There’s a lot of energy this year as compared to last year. Seeing them enjoy themselves was kind of a highlight for me,” Walter said.
