Looking for something to do with the children during the summer? Trying to get the kids out of the house? Mommy and Me Bootcamp is the perfect way to exercise and still spend some quality time with the kids.

Organized by personal trainer Dyanna Crane at Boardman Park, Mommy and Me Bootcamp originated after she was asked to start a fitness program that would benefit everyone involved and include all age groups. Mommy and Me Bootcamp allows mothers who just previously gave birth or have children in the toddler stages an opportunity to work out and still have ‘me’ time, but are able to spend it with their children.

“We do calisthenics, cardio, hike the trails, a lot of exercises, including their own body weight and I teach the proper form and to work all the muscle groups,” Crane said.

Crane explained one way the children are integrated into the workouts is through their strollers. Though strollers are not a requirement in the program, a majority of the moms bring their children in strollers and use them for full body workouts or leg exercises.

Sometimes, the children even partake in the exercises with their mothers. In one case, 18-month-old Sydney Spin would lay on her mother’s back while she worked out.

“It’s great bonding time with my child,” said Connie Spin. “And she actually exercises with me.”

Spin said she really loves the program, especially the outdoor version. She also appreciates the instructor’s dedication and commitment.

“She’s very patient with us and she lets us work out at our levels,” Spin said. “She pushes us and makes it worth our while to come and take an hour.”

Spin said amazing results should be expected. The 36-year-old mother lost three pounds throughout her session and fits into her clothes again.

Crane’s commitment continues even outside of class hours. She offers private sessions at clients’ homes or she’ll train them in a private gym.

Classes are Mondays and Wednesdays at 11 a.m. and Saturdays at 9:30 a.m.

“Anyone can drop into a class at any time,” Crane said. “They can pay per session or pay for the entire six weeks up front.”

Sessions are six weeks long and cost $58 (includes all three days a week) or $10 a class.
