Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and ex-Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty will greet supporters of Mitt Romney, the Republican presidential candidate, at 6 p.m. today at Eastwood Field before the Mahoning Valley Scrappers minor-league baseball game.
The two, both considered potential Romney vice-presidential running mates, are traveling through Ohio today in areas where President Barack Obama, a Democrat, is visiting. The tailgate at the Scrappers event is open to the public.
Jindal and Pawlenty are on a bus tour hitting those areas — Maumee, Parma and the Valley — before the president, who’s on his own two-day bus tour that started today.
Obama will give a speech about 10:45 a.m. Friday at Dobbins Elementary School in Poland as part of his “Betting on America” tour.
Local Democrats will have a 1:30 p.m. press conference today at the Poland Township Administration Building welcoming Obama to the area. They discussed Obama’s policies that they say are helping Ohio create an economy built to last compared to Romney’s policies that hurt the middle class.
