Leadership award for Humility of Mary

Leadership award for Humility of Mary

youngstown

Humility of Mary Health Partners is one of only 10 health care organizations in the state awarded the Melvin Creeley Environmental Leadership Award for 2012.

The Melvin Creeley Award, presented by the Ohio Hospital Association, recognizes hospitals that promote sound environmental practices through environmental stewardship and exemplify best practices for other hospitals to emulate. This is the second consecutive year Humility of Mary Health Partners has received the award.

“We’re not being recognized for a specific project but rather our continuing efforts to reduce our impact on the Earth and achieve environmental sustainability,” reports Matthew R. Waggle, regional director of environmental services at Humility of Mary Health Partners. “We are very deliberate in all of our new construction to make sure we are diverting construction waste so it is not buried in a landfill, and in choosing sustainable building materials.”

As part of the settlement, GSK will pay to the states and the federal government a total of $2 billion in damages and civil penalties to compensate various federal healthcare programs, including Medicaid, for harm allegedly suffered as a result of the illegal conduct.
