Staff report

WILLIAMSPORT, PA

The hottest team in the New York-Penn League is coming back home.

The Mahoning Valley Scrappers open up a three-game series with Aberdeen tonight at 7:05 p.m. at Eastwood Field in Niles. After earning a series sweep against the State College Spikes, the Scrappers continued their streak with another sweep of the Williamsport Crosscutters. Mahoning Valley earned a 3-1 victory in Williamsport on Tuesday.

The Scrappers (9-7) put up zeros until the eighth inning.

Then, Indians first-round draft pick Tyler Naquin tripled in a pair of runs.

Juan Romero added insurance by belting a solo home run, his league leading fifth of the season.

Jacob Lee earned his second win of the season with three strike outs in 12/3 innings. He came in relief of Geoffery Davenport.

Enosil Tejeda struck out all three batters he faced in the ninth inning for his third save.
