Police: Pa. woman stole cold cuts for tavern owner

ROCHESTER, Pa.

A western Pennsylvania woman has been charged with stealing cold cuts at the behest of a bar owner who reportedly paid her half price for the boosted meats and cheeses.

Online court records don’t list an attorney for 44-year-old Mandy Sue Minnitte, of Darlington.

The Beaver County Times reports she’s charged with stealing $43 worth of cold cuts from a supermarket in May for 72-year-old Antonio Celeste, owner of Celeste’s Bar in Monaca. He was previously charged and has denied wrongdoing, though court records show he’s scheduled to enter a special probation program for first-time offenders next month.

Police had Minnitte call Celeste the day she was caught shoplifting and had her deliver the cold cuts to him for $20, before he was arrested.

Police are mailing the newly filed charges to Minnitte.

4 arrested after calling NC deputy for drugs

SALISBURY, N.C.

Four people have been arrested in North Carolina after they mistakenly called the wrong person about drug purchases.

The man they got was a Rowan County deputy sheriff.

The Salisbury Post reported that Deputy Jagger Naves was awakened by four calls to his cell phone around 4 a.m. recently.

Some of the calls complained about the quantity of drugs they had purchased and wanted him to correct the problem.

Naves arranged to meet two of the callers and later met with two other callers elsewhere.

All four were arrested.

Arkansas police: Ice cream is used as excuse in crash

VAN BUREN, Ark.

A woman accused of leaving the scene of a minor traffic crash in western Arkansas told police she did it because she didn’t want her ice cream to melt.

Van Buren police say one vehicle rear-ended another on Arkansas Highway 59 on Sunday evening, but that the driver of the second car didn’t stop to check on the vehicle she had hit.

The other driver called police and set off in pursuit.

Fort Smith television station KHBS reported that Flora Burkhart told police she didn’t think there was enough damage to merit stopping — and that she didn’t want her ice cream to melt.

Burkhart was cited for following too closely and leaving the scene of an accident.
