Main Lite Electric plans ribbon-cutting
warren
Main Lite Electric Co. will have a ribbon-cutting Friday for the opening of its newly constructed 12,000-square-foot office/warehouse facility in Warren Commerce Park.
The event is at 1:30 p.m. at 3000 Sferra Ave. NW.
Under an enterprise zone agreement, Main Lite Electric Co. Inc. and Sferra Avenue Property LLC are receiving a 10-year, 75-percent tax abatement on real property associated with the new construction.
The incentive was made possible by city of Warren Community Development Department, Mahoning Valley Economic Development Corp. and the Trumbull County Planning Commission.
In turn, the company pledges to hire an additional three full-time workers and 20 temporary workers within three years after completion of the construction project.
RTI CEO is featured as top woman leader
Pittsburgh
Dawne S. Hickton, vice chairwoman, president and CEO of Pittsburgh-based RTI International Metals Inc., a producer of titanium mill products, is featured in the inaugural issue of STEMconnector’s 100 Women Leaders in STEM. Hickton is the only Pittsburgh-area science, technology, engineering, and mathematics leader in the corporate sector to be featured in the publication that celebrates the careers of women who are excelling in the male-dominated STEM fields of science, technology, engineering and math.
“We must be committed over the long haul to developing and promoting practical and meaningful resources for young women pursuing STEM careers,” Hickton said. “That means supporting rigorous math and science classes and offering internships, mentoring and scholarships.”
A rise for stocks
new york
Stocks climbed Tuesday in an abbreviated holiday trading session after an encouraging report about manufacturing. Energy stocks rose the most because of increased tension over oil-rich Iran.
Major stock indexes wavered in early trading, then moved decisively higher after the government reported that factory orders rose in May. Caterpillar, Alcoa, Boeing and other stocks that depend on manufacturing rose.
Chuck E. Cheese to get a makeover
new york
Chuck E. Cheese has been given the pink slip.
The company that operates the chain of children’s pizza restaurants is retiring the giant rodent’s outdated image — and the man who voiced its character for nearly two decades. CEC Entertainment Inc. says it plans to launch a national ad campaign Thursday with a revamped image of Chuck E. Cheese as a hip, electric-guitar-playing rock star.
It’s just the latest makeover for the 35-year-old mascot, which started life as a New Jersey rat who sometimes carried a cigar.
