In keeping with one of its mottos, “to educate the orphan,” Canfield Odd Fellows Lodge presented its 2012 scholarship to William “Bill” Magnuson, second from the left, front, whose father, the late Bob Magnuson, was an outstanding Canfield patrolman. Bill, who is actively involved in community service organizations, plans to attend Youngstown State University to study law enforcement, hoping to follow his father’s footsteps and work for the city of Canfield. The lodge, which received its Canfield charter in 1850, has presented a scholarship to a deserving graduate for the last seven years. Presenting the scholarship is John Weaver, lodge vice grand, and also in the front row are Sandy Magnuson, Bill’s mother, and lodge members George Makar and Lloyd Schooley. Standing in back, from left, are Richard Eberth, Ellen McCreary, Howard Young, Al Thonpson and Everett McCreary. Not pictured is lodge member Sparky Ashby.
