A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard and Liberty:
GIRARD
June 26
Possible breaking and entering: A South State Street man returned home to find a broken window, though nothing seemed to be missing.
Breaking and entering: Someone entered a home in the 100 block of Morris Avenue and stole a woman’s purse.
Breaking and entering: A man was seen leaving a vacant residence in the 200 block of West Prospect Street through a rear window and fleeing through neighboring yards. Nothing appeared to be missing, however.
Theft: A North Highland Avenue woman reported a lock box stolen.
Menacing: A woman in the 700 block of North Highland Avenue said another woman threatened her regarding money owed.
Theft: An 11-year-old boy reported his $100 bicycle stolen in the 100 block of East Prospect Street.
Theft by deception: A Woodlawn Avenue man told officers that after filling out an online job application, he received two $975 money orders followed by an email instructing him to send $1,500 to a foreign address. Instead, the man turned the orders over to police.
Menacing: A Church Hill Road woman reported a caller threatened to jump her and several of the accuser’s family members.
Arrest: While responding to a disturbance near Wilson Avenue, police took into custody 19-year-old Kassandra Ivinskas, 1115 Chestnut St., Niles, who was wanted on a warrant accusing her of failing to appear in court on a property-maintenance charge.
Assault: Police responded to a fight between four or five males in which one of the combatants had a swollen face and eye. Several other males suffered minor injuries.
June 27
Theft: A Church Hill Road woman reported the theft of her grandson’s $300 bicycle.
Truck theft: A 1994 Ford F-250 truck was stolen in the 1100 block of Patricia Drive.
June 28
Theft by deception: An Illinois Avenue man learned $214 had been removed from his bank account by deceptive means.
Harassment: A Stambaugh Street woman reported getting two sexually-explicit calls.
Possible endangerment: Officers responded to a possible child-abuse situation at an East Howard Street home, where one boy alleged his father had struck him seven times in the buttocks and slapped him, though police said they saw no signs of injury.
Arson: A man reportedly set fire to a bin in a garage in the 200 block of East Main Street, though the garage escaped damage.
June 29
Burglary: Took place in the 200 block of West Kline Street. Stolen were several microphones and musical equipment, for a loss of $1,930.
Attempted breaking and entering: Someone did minor damage to the drive-through window, apparently in a effort to break into McQuaid’s Sunoco, 307 S. State St.
Theft: A Morris Avenue man reported his son’s 20-inch bicycle stolen.
June 30
Domestic violence: A Girard girl was charged with the crime after officers responded to a situation between a brother and a sister in which the brother alleged having been pushed and struck in the face during an argument.
Burglary: To a residence in the 400 block of Indiana Avenue, from which a $200 air-conditioning unit was taken.
Theft by deception: An East Broadway Avenue woman found five unauthorized charges totaling about $225 to her debit card.
July 1
Drugs: Authorities responded to a house fire in the 200 block of South Davis Street before charging 28-year-old Julian W. Folsome of Girard with disorderly conduct and drug abuse. Folsome had two small bags of suspected marijuana and refused to leave the residence, a report showed.
Arrest: Eric A. Munro, 40, of 66 Saranac Ave., Youngstown, was charged with resisting arrest after police investigated a suspicious vehicle on South State Street. Munro, who also was wanted on a criminal-trespassing charge from Youngstown, refused to comply with authorities and briefly struggled with them, a report said.
Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 400 block of South State Street was found with damage to its windshield and a passenger-side door.
LIBERTY
June 26
Auto theft: A Naylor-Lloyd Road woman alleged two family members stole her 2002 Dodge Neon, as well as a 19-inch flat-screen TV.
Arrest: Officers picked up 28-year-old Jonathan C. Simmons at the Mahoning County jail. Simmons, of 252 S. Glenellen St., Youngstown, was wanted on a township warrant.
June 27
Fraud: Two former employees of Ohio Sweepstakes Inc., 2718 Belmont Ave., were suspected of scamming the business of roughly $30,000 since last February.
Breaking and entering: Someone cut the locks to seven storage units at Blake’s Mini Storage Inc., 5355 Belmont Ave., though it was undetermined if property was missing.
Identity fraud: A Shannon Road woman discovered someone had used her debit-card number to buy $74 worth of musical tunes from an online source.
Theft/weapon: While responding to three suspected shoplifters at Walmart, 200 Goldie Road, officers charged 36-year-old Trichita L. Gilbert, 23 Halls Heights Ave., Youngstown, with one misdemeanor count of carrying a concealed weapon after saying she had a switchblade knife. Theft charges were pending against Gilbert and another Youngstown woman.
June 28
Arrest: Lamar Chatman, 40, of 1321 Dryden Ave., Youngstown, was taken into custody at the Mahoning County jail. He was wanted on a charge of failing to appear in court.
Arrest: While answering a shoplifting situation at the Liberty Plaza, police arrested 31-year-old Jassmine L. Daniels of Lorain and 45-year-old Janet L. Clay, 1150 Burlington St., Youngstown, on warrants. Daniels was accused of failing to appear in court on a felony drug-abuse charge; Clay was wanted by the Trumbull County 911 center on a theft count.
June 29
Arrest: Officers responded to a vehicular crash near Tibbetts-Wick Road, where they charged 35-year-old Brian Dunbar, 3016 Malibu Drive SW, Warren, with operating a vehicle impaired.
June 30
Theft: A James Lane man reported the theft of a 20-inch bicycle.
Drugs: Officers on state Route 193 stopped 40-year-old Jason Hymes and charged him with one misdemeanor count each of marijuana possession and possession of dangerous drugs. Hymes, of 1143 Norwood Ave., Youngstown, had about 2 grams of suspected marijuana and 12 tablets in a plastic bag, police said.
Threats: A Tibbetts-Wick Road woman said her former boyfriend threatened to kick in her door to retrieve some of his property.
Arrest: Police picked up 29-year-old Jeffrey O. Reesman Jr., 2318 Tod Ave., Warren, at the Mahoning County jail. He was wanted on a township warrant accusing him of failing to appear in court.
Arrest: Police charged Raymond A. Byrd, 21, of 637 Church Hill Road, Girard, with operating a vehicle impaired after having pulled him over on state Route 193.
July 1
Assault/theft: Jacqueline E. Kis, 45, of 848 Paige Ave. NE, Warren, was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and complicity after a shoplifting situation at Walmart. Also, a 17-year-old Warren girl was charged with assault, theft, disorderly conduct and obstructing official business after police said the girl became combative, then kicked and bit an officer.
Drugs: A traffic stop near Belmont Avenue resulted in the arrests of Amanda J. Prindle, 28, of 654 Johnson-Plank Road NE, Warren, on charges of drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as Matthew L. Border, 32, of 3644 Warren-Sharon Road, Vienna, who was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and having no operator’s license. Two packages of syringes, a small bag of suspected crack cocaine and a suspected crack pipe were found, a report showed.
Theft: A Fifth Avenue man discovered two prescription medications and various tools missing from his pickup truck.
Theft: A dealer’s license plate was stolen off a car in the 4400 block of Logan Way.
