Staff report
youngstown
Dry weather and wildfires throughout the nation have led Phantom Fireworks to request people take extra precautions for any backyard fireworks.
In areas where fireworks are allowed people should:
Use a large paved surface to launch fireworks. If a paved area is not available use a dirt location free of grass or vegetation.
Wet down the launch site and the area around it for 30 feet and 150 feet for aerial fireworks before lighting.
Keep a source of water available.
Watch wind conditions and delay launches until high winds subside.
Appoint one adult to watch fireworks trajectory and make sure no fires start.
Do not allow minors to handle fireworks.
Keep pets indoors when setting off fireworks.
Soak and properly dispose of all spent products and clean any leftover debris.
