It’s full speed ahead for 2012 edition of Trumbull Co. Fair

Speed sports are featured events at the 2012 Trumbull County Fair, which begins Tuesday.

Speaking of driving, there’s a food drive on Tuesday with gate admission waived with three canned goods or three nonperishable items (items must have current dates). All veterans with proper identification get free admission Wednesday. Also on the July 4 holiday, admission with rides is reduced to $4 for all.

Grandstand attractions include the Ground Pounders Unlimited Garden Tractor Pulls at 6 p.m. Tuesday and auto races on Wednesday — hot laps at 5:30 and Northeast FASTRAK at 6 p.m. Thursday races include hot laps at 5:30 and B.R.P. modifieds and pure stock cars at 6 p.m.

Wheels give way to hooves at 7 p.m. Friday for the Broken Horn Rodeo featuring bull riding, bucking broncos, barrel racing, steer wrestling and team roping.

Saturday is a “Day of Pulls.” at 1 p.m., diesel 4x4 truck, pro street gas 4x4 trucks, limited pro and super farm tractor pulls. At 6:30, pro stock 4x4 trucks, big rig semi trucks, and Smoker Series tractor pulls.

Things end with two bangs on Sunday: a demolition derby at 6 and a fireworks display by Hamburg Fireworks about 10 p.m.

Daily shows are Chases Racing Pigs, three shows daily with times to be announced, near the grandstand; and hardwood chainsaw carver Luree Magee doing three to four carvings daily, in the historical area, Wednesday through Saturday.

Also expect a fair share of food, rides, music and livestock exhibitions.
