Sewer grates missing

WARREN

Warren’s Operations Department reported Friday morning that seven cast-iron sewer grates were removed from various locations around the city between Jan. 23 and Friday. They are valued at $850 altogether.

Officials have speculated that the grates are being stolen to sell for their scrap value.

Computer classes

Trumbull Community Action Program is offering Senior Citizen Computer Education Classes. There is no cost to register.

The classes are offered Thursdays from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the TCAP office at 1230 Palmyra Road SW. The goal is to teach seniors the world of computing. Class topics can range from basic keyboard and mouse skills to surfing the Web. The class structure gives each senior the opportunity to receive personal guidance from the instructor. The classes are offered on an ongoing basis. Interested seniors should call Matthew Tenney at 330-393-2507, ext. 268, for information.

Shots fired in bar

WARREN

A security officer at the Paradise Bar, 261 North Park Ave. NW, reported that a person fired three shots inside the bar at 2:05 a.m. Saturday. Police found a shell casing inside the bar and a bullet in the ceiling. They also found two shell casings on the ground in front of the bar. A videotape of the incident showed the shooter firing the gun while 50 customers were inside, though the 25 customers questioned “stated they saw nothing.” No injuries were reported.

Police chase stolen car

WARREN

Police chased a stolen car starting at 11:47 p.m. Saturday from Summit Street Northwest to Parkman Road, Garden Street, Robert Avenue and Tod Avenue, then several other streets in the Northwest area before it crashed on Norwood Avenue Northwest, splitting a telephone pole in two and striking a ditch.

The fleeing vehicle continued onto several other streets, crashing again at Linda Drive and Autumn Drive Northwest. The 17-year-old male police believe was driving fled on foot and escaped. Girls age 14 and 16 got out of the vehicle and ran, but the 16-year-old returned to the car and was taken into custody. The girl, who told police the identity of the two others, was charged with a curfew violation.
