Patriot to operate pending hearing

Staff report

WARREN

Patriot Water Treatment and the Warren wastewater-treatment plant will continue to operate as usual pending the outcome of an adjudicatory hearing requested by Patriot with the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.

The OEPA originally had set a target date of today for expiration of Warren’s wastewater permit that allows Patriot Water Treatment, LLC to discharge its treated, low-salinity and environmentally safe water to the city of Warren’s wastewater-treatment plant.

Consistent with applicable Ohio law and OEPA practice, Patriot will be allowed to operate pending the outcome of the hearing, a company spokesman said.

A pre-hearing conference has been scheduled for Feb. 14, but the actual adjudicatory hearing has not been scheduled.

Patriot is committed to using all legal and regulatory remedies available to protect its legal right to operate, the spokesman said.
