Man charged with shooting woman

A Crandall Avenue man has been charged with felonious assault following a shooting on the city’s West Side Monday.

Kevin Newell, 44, was taken into custody after police responded to a South Glenellen residence just before midnight Monday and found a 41-year-old Parkcliffe Avenue woman bleeding from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The woman was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center for treatment.

Police asked the victim what had taken place leading up to the shooting, but she said she did not know anything.
