Break-in attempt

NILES

A resident of the 300 block of Grant Street reported to Niles police that two men tried to break into his house at 2:32 p.m. Saturday but he scared them off.

The homeowner said he heard a loud bang on his side door and saw two white men — one in his 40s the other in his 30s — trying to break the glass on the door and force the door open.

The two men fled on foot when they saw the home-owner looking at them. The homeowner said he recognized the two men from the neighborhood. The older man had long, gray hair on the sides and was bald on top. He possibly was wearing a gray jacket. The younger man was wearing a Cleveland Indians jacket, he said.
