YOUNGSTOWN

Danielle Battafarano and Joseph A. Surko Jr., both of Poland, were married Oct. 22, 2011, during a late-afternoon ceremony at St. Patrick Church.

Father Edward Noga officiated over the ceremony, and a reception followed at Stambaugh Auditorium.

The bride is the daughter of Philip and Renee Battafarano of Boardman, and the groom is the son of Joseph A. Surko Sr. of Youngstown and the late Maryann Surko.

The bride wore an ivory satin gown that had a hand-beaded sweetheart neckline and quarter-length sleeves. Couture-inspired draping spilled into a fitted skirt and corset back. Hand beading shaped in a half-moon enhanced the waist and bodice.

Attending the bride as maids of honor were Dr. Angel Ricciuli and Sharon Schroeder. Bridesmaids were the groom’s sisters, Karen Fraterolli and Diane Surko.

Daniel Surko, the groom’s brother, performed the duties of best man. Groomsmen were Anthony Fraterolli, the groom’s brother-in-law; Gary Shane; and Kevin Vivacqua.

The bride received a bachelor’s degree from Youngstown State University and is employed by Youngstown City Schools as site manager of the Youngstown After School Alliance at Rayen Early College. The groom graduated from the Western Reserve Police Academy and is employed as a Mahoning County deputy sheriff.

The couple honeymooned in Sonoma Valley, Calif.
