Aid approved for 75 Genie workers in Alliance

WASHINGTON

The U.S. Department of Labor on Tuesday certified worker adjustment assistance for more than 75 workers at The Genie Co. in Alliance.

Workers whose jobs were lost when their work was outsourced to a foreign countrycan apply for assistance.

“The loss of a job can be a devastating experience,” said U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, a Democrat from Avon. “These resources will help ensure that displaced workers from the Genie Company have the financial support and training opportunities to get a fresh start.”

Trade Adjustment Assistance is a federal program that provides aid to workers who lose their jobs or whose work hours and wages are reduced as a result of increased imports.
