Some movie titles are wordy and complicated or generically forgettable. Others, such as the current “Man on a Ledge,” tell you everything you need to know about the movie in just a few tidy words. Here are five other movies whose titles say it all:

v “Snakes on a Plane” (2006): It is, of course, about snakes ... on ... a plane. They get loose and they get angry. All kinds of gnarly carnage ensues at 35,000 feet.

v “Hobo With a Shotgun” (2011): Rutger Hauer plays the titular vagabond who rides into a new town and finds himself in possession of the aforementioned firearm. Transforming himself into a vigilante killer, he cleans up this cartoonishly depraved place.

v “The Human Centipede” (2010): Yep, that’s pretty much what it is. A mad German scientist abducts and mutilates three people, then stitches them together mouth-to-anus to create a human centipede.

v “Attack of the Killer Tomatoes!” (1978): This spoof of B-horror movies is gleefully silly and hilariously low-tech. Menacing, mutant tomatoes threaten humanity. The San Diego Chicken even makes an appearance.

v “Santa Claus Conquers the Martians” (1964): This is a cheapo B-movie classic: a weird, goofy combination of family comedy and sci-fi adventure.

“Intervention” (10 p.m., A&E): A new episode of “Intervention” sounds like a suburban nightmare. It focuses on a soccer mom who used to maintain an immaculate home, but has resorted to collecting scrap metal and selling pills to support her crack addiction.

Ceramics museum receives donation

East Liverpool

The Museum of Ceramics Foundation recently received an unrestricted gift of $25,000 from a donor who prefers to remain anonymous.

A few months ago, this out-of-state visitor visited the museum and revisited memories of childhood trips to the area. A portion of this gift will be applied to the museum’s project to make its restrooms and lower level handicapped-accessible. Construction of an elevator and an accessible restroom will begin soon.
