A 17-year-old male is dead after he was shot outside an apartment on the city’s East Side. Police Chief Rod Foley said Carlos Cruz Jr. was killed around 2:15 a.m. Saturday outside 1040 Kendis Circle. Cruz apparently was attending a party at the residence, Foley said.

The chief said police don’t have any suspects at this time, but they spent Saturday interviewing people present at the time of the shooting. No other details were available Saturday evening.

LAKE Milton

A man accused of murder in Colorado is in the custody of Milton Township police. Jeramy L. Estep, 25, was arrested Saturday morning at 14886 Creed Road, where police said he was staying with his girlfriend.

Estep, of Naturita, Colo., was wanted by Colorado State Police in Montrose County on a charge of criminally negligent vehicular homicide. He’s in Mahoning County jail pending an extradition hearing this week. He’ll then be transported back to Colorado to stand trial, police said.

Niles

New Hope United Methodist Church is a host site for the Smart Choice Food Source. Boxes of food range in price from $16 to $35 and include meat, pasta, coffee and senior meals. There are no income restrictions or guidelines. Pre-order and prepay with cash, money orders or Ohio Direction Card. Orders for February will be accepted from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday.

To mail order, send check or money order payable to New Hope UM Church, 21 Fairview Ave., Niles, OH 44446. Include a self-addressed stamped envelope so your receipt can be mailed to you. Youngstown

The Jewish Community Center of Youngstown is offering intermediate computer classes from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays, beginning this week through Feb. 22. Participants will learn to use Microsoft Office Suite, open and use a free email account and send pictures and attachments. Cost is $40 for members, $50 for nonmembers.
