Kristy Taylor, adult and young adult librarian, chose the perfect day to invite teens in grades seven through 12 to the Canfield library for a hot chocolate tasting Jan. 19.

On this cold and snowy afternoon, Taylor had four brands of hot chocolate for the teens to sip in a blind taste-test and then vote for as their favorite hot chocolate.

Several teens stopped by on their way home to lend their input and vote for what they considered the best tasting brand. They voted by number on a secret ballot.

According to Taylor, the originator of the event, the teens tasted the Cold Stone Creamery brand, the Swiss Miss brand, the Nestle brand and the Great Value brand.

“The teens will blind taste a small cup full of each brand and then vote for their favorite and when I have the results tallied, I will post them here at the library,” Taylor said.

And, what’s hot chocolate without marshmallows? The teens didn’t have to find out, as they had the sweet option to add some marshmallows to their hot chocolate to help them make their decision.
