Pedestrian killed

NORTH LIMA

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a one-vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian. The accident occurred about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday on Market Street at Calla Road in Beaver Township.

Troopers said Kristina J. Kaiser, 51, of New Middletown, was trying to cross Market Street on foot when she was hit by a car driven by Sean M. Lynch, 20, of Beaver, Ohio.

Kaiser was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown where she later died, according to reports. Lynch was not injured.

Two promoted

YOUNGSTOWN

Two city firefighters have been promoted to the rank of lieutenant. They are Terrance Gamble and Michael Saddler. They were sworn in by Mayor Chuck Sammarone at a ceremony earlier this week in city- council chambers.

Schools program

WARREN

Warren City Schools invites anyone interested in the success of Warren students to attend a program on Safe and Inviting Schools at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Warren G. Harding High School, 860 Elm Road NE.

The program ties in with the school district’s anti-bullying campaign.

Dr. Cathy Hamilton of New Castle, Ind., a longtime public-school teacher, will lead the discussion.

Hamilton is known for her work in differentiated instruction related to at-risk learners. She served 10 years on a state-level committee aimed at creating inclusive environments.

The school district is working to ensure that all students are getting what they need to be safe and successful each day.
