BGMS wrestlers split with rival Austintown

The Boardman Glenwood wrestlers split matches with rival AMS Falcons recently. The Spartans took on unbeaten AMS Red and led most of the match before falling 59-36.

The Spartans quickly bounced back with a 78-12 victory over AMS Blue. Winning matches for the Spartans were Matt Maroni, Richard Craig, Mark Gotham, Nick Patoray, Sam Varga, Tyler Stolar, Alex Birchfield, Jared Hoover and Brandon Alm. Marcus Webster, Conner Kochansky, Danny Boerio, AJ Pantaleo and Tyler Dempsey each won both matches by pin.

Golf event set for this summer

The annual Pink Ribbon Gold Classic will be held at Tippecanoe Country Club on July 16. All proceeds from this event will go directly to the American Cancer Society. The Pink Ribbon committee will also sponsor a bus trip this spring to a local casino. Watch for further details on both of these events.

Boardman’s Campbell commits to Buffalo

Boardman running back Devin Campbell verbally committed to play football at Buffalo on Sunday.

Campbell (6-0, 195) was a second team All-Ohioan last season for the Spartans, who shared the Federal League title and made the playoffs.

Campbell rushed for 1,230 yards and 18 TDs and added another 567 yards receiving with six TDs.
