Township police are searching for the suspect in a Wednesday morning bank robbery.
Capt. Bryan Kloss said a man entered First Place Bank, 3516 S. Meridian Road, when the doors opened at 9 a.m. Wednesday. He handed the teller an envelope with a note that read, “I have a gun. Give me your money.”
Kloss said the teller took money from her drawer and handed it to him. He then fled from the bank.
The suspect is described as a white man between 50 and 60 years old, 5 feet 10 inches, about 180 pounds with short and partially graying hair.
Kloss said he was wearing a black and yellow jacket, black hat and white sneakers. Anyone with information should call police at 330-799-9721.
Man pleads guilty
CLEVELAND
One of the four Mahoning Valley men accused of staging a January 2010 car accident at a Boardman business to collect insurance money pleaded guilty Tuesday for his role in the crime.
Joseph P. Amon pleaded guilty to one charge of conspiracy in front of Judge Donald C. Nugent in federal court. He will be sentenced at 9:30 a.m. April 3.
Mum’s The Word Florist owner James J. Landis is accused of conspiring with Thomas V. Franco, who already has pleaded guilty in the case, and Paul “Jeff” Amon and Joseph P. Amon, owners of M and J Properties Group Inc., a Canfield construction business, who did the repair work. More than $90,000 in insurance money was collected because of the accident, records show.
Man dies in accident
WARREN
A 77-year-old Warren man died Monday afternoon in a two-car accident on Risher Road in Warren Township near South Leavitt Road.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said William Dixon was pronounced dead at ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital after the 4:55 p.m. crash.
The driver of the other car, Margaret Friend, 74, of Warren, was not injured. Troopers said Dixon was westbound on Risher Road when Friend’s 1996 Chevrolet came out of a private drive and collided with Dixon’s vehicle, which struck a ditch and a tree.
