Mourners line up for 2nd day of Paterno viewing

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) — Mourners are lining up to pay their final respects to legendary Penn State coach Joe Paterno, joining thousands who attended the first day of a public viewing.

About 75 people lined up outside a campus spiritual center before 7 a.m. today, with more steadily joining the line.

The earliest arriving mourners were prepared to wait three hours or more for the opportunity to pass by the Hall of Famer’s casket.

The public viewing began at 8 a.m. and ends at noon before a private funeral in the afternoon. An “honor guard” of one current and one former player are watching over the casket during the viewing.

The Hall of Fame coach died Sunday, two months after being diagnosed with lung cancer. A campus memorial service is scheduled for Thursday.
