W. Pa. man faces DUI, homicide charges in high-speed death

NEW BRIGHTON, Pa. (AP) — Police have charged a western Pennsylvania man with drunken driving, vehicular homicide and involuntary manslaughter for a high-speed crash that killed his passenger.

Online court records do not list an attorney for 25-year-old Robert Allen Nesmith Jr., of New Brighton. The Beaver County Times reports that Daugherty Township police filed those charges and others Monday, but court records show Nesmith has yet to be arrested.

Police say Nesmith was driving more than 100 mph when his Corvette rolled several times and hit a light pole on Sept. 11, 2010.

Authorities say 22-year-old Christopher Turner, of New Brighton, died from losing blood due to a broken leg and fractured pelvis he suffered in the crash.

Police say Nesmith’s lengthy recovery from his injuries and Pennsylvanaia State Police crime lab tests delayed the charges.
