Mourners line up a quarter-mile for Paterno

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) -- Hundreds of mourners are in a line more than a quarter of a mile long to pay their respects to the late Joe Paterno.

They will pass the legendary football coach's closed casket at a campus spiritual center. One current and one former player are standing with the casket during the public viewing.

Steelers and Nittany Lion great Franco Harris was among invited guests who attended a private viewing earlier today.

That group included Mike McQueary. He's the former assistant who told Paterno he saw ex-defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky sexually assaulting a boy in a shower at the football facility.

Trustees fired Paterno in November, citing his failure to pass on to police McQueary's account of the alleged encounter.

Paterno died Sunday, just over two months after being fired.
