Driver hurt when dump truck hits W. Pa. overpass

INDIANA, Pa. (AP) — Pennsylvania State Police say a dump truck driver has been taken to the hospital after the bed of his vehicle lifted and hit a highway overpass as the truck drove beneath the structure in western Pennsylvania.

Officials at Indiana Regional Medical Center could not immediately be reached for information on the truck driver. He’s been identified as Tom Wilsoncroft, of West Deccatur, by troopers from the barracks in Indiana, Pa.

Police say the incident happened about 7:10 a.m. today on U.S. Route 119 in White Township. That’s about 45 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.

Police did not immediately explain why the truck’s dumping bed began to lift while the truck was moving. The driver was hurt when the bed hit the Airport Road overpass above the highway.
