Avalon Gardens closes; owner still missing

YOUNGSTOWN — A city landmark is closing its doors nearly four months after its owner went missing.

The Avalon Gardens on Belmont Avenue shut down over the weekend, according to a report from 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator's broadcast partner.

The owner of the tavern, James Donofrio, was last seen in late September.

The only trace of Donofrio has been the discovery of his truck parked near railroad tracks in downtown Youngstown.
