Phantoms pick up victory; Chris Bradley has hat trick

DES MOINES, IOWA

The Youngstown Phantoms scored early and often, defeating the Des Moines Buccaneers, 8-6, in a United States Hockey League game on Saturday night.

Chris Bradley, a Phantoms defenseman, had a had trick, improving his goals scored for the season from one to four, to highlight Youngstown’s victory.

Dylan Margonari added a pair of tallies, his 10th and 11th of the season, while Mike Ambrosia had three assists.

Also scoring for the Phantoms were J.T. Stenglein (his 17th), Zach Tatrn (his second) and Richard Zehnal (his sixth).

Chad McDonald and Cal Decowski both scored twice for Des Moines.

Youngstown held a 34-33 edge in shots on goal and went 2 for 8 on the power play.

Des Moines was 4 for 12 with a man advantage.

Tatrn scored with 13:15 remaining in the first period to give Youngstown an early lead, then Zehnal and Bradley added goals to give the Phantoms a 3-0 lead after one period.

The second period was a free-for-all with nine goals scored, including five by the Buccaneers.

Each team settled down defensively in the third period, allowing one goal each.
